Fixed 100%: "Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk" for Both GPT and MBR Errors Without Losing Data



GPT and MBR Errors

If you tried to install a new windows using USB device to your computer, but you faced by big error prevent you from complete your windows installation with one of the following message errors:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected 
disk is not of the GPT partition style."


or

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."



There are many ways that can fix this errors from computer itself by changing the disk partition style, but this can be done only if your computer still work and before you do a format for C partition during recent trial of windows installation. Also you can change partition style of hard drive even if you already make format for C partition, but you will loss all your data in all partitions such as D and/or E partition in addition to C partition.

Om this topic I will show you how to deal with these errors, without need to format all your hard disks and without losing all your data.



Requirements:- Another laptop
- ISO Image of Windows
- Empty USB Flash Memory Card (8 GB or more).
- Rufus Tool you can found it
here from official website or you can download tool V. 2.18 directly from this link, if you need portable tool V. 2.18 download it directly from this Direct link.



First: How to deal with MBR error (i.e. if hard drive has MBR format, while windows image on installation device has GPT Format) with the following error message:
 "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is not of the GPT partition style." 


Solution:

Convert GPT to MPR format.


steps:
1-Connect an empty USB flash card with storage capacity at least 8gb or more.
Note: ALL YOUR DATA ON THIS FLASH WILL BE LOST.
2- Run Rufus Tool.

3- Make sure that USB Flash card recognized by tool.
4- Navigate to windows ISO file and load it.

5- from Partition scheme and target system type option select
MPR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers.









Second:

How to deal with GPT error (i.e. if hard drive has GPT format, while windows image on installation device has MBR Format) with the following error message:
 "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."



Solution:

Convert GPT to MPR format.

steps:
